Inspired by the works of Citizen Printer, aka Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr., we’ll be printing multi-color posters with bold, intentional words using a rainbow roll and 2-color screen printing process. Attendees will come up with a quote of their own, and learn how to print posters with strong messages and colorful backgrounds.

Words and Color

Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr., is a contemporary, legendary letterpress printer based in Detroit, and featured in a new book, Citizen Printer.

We will have the book and examples of his work for inspiration at the workshop.

In this class, attendees will create a screen with words that inspire them, learning the process of creating a design and preparing screens for printing.

They’ll also get to choose from a few different background textures and screen print them as a dramatic backdrop for the words.

Create a visual reminder of a poem, an affirmation, a dream, a feeling or a vibe. What do you want to say?

No prior printing experience is needed. Beginners are welcome!
